How does an asset tag work?

An asset tag is a label or a small device attached to an asset to identify and track it. In our case, a tag with a unique code is scanned by the RFID reader inside the XT4 to record the location and status.

A gateway is a device that enables communication between asset tags and a central system. It collects data from various asset tags, such as location, status, and movement, and transmits this information through a network, such as Wi-Fi, mobile data (4G/5G), Bluetooth, or LoRaWAN.

Are the asset tags easy to install?

Yes, GPS-Buddy asset tags are designed for quick and easy installation. Depending on the type of tag, they can be attached with screws. For wireless tags, such as RFID or Bluetooth tags, no additional wiring is usually required, making them ready for immediate use.

How long is the battery life of an asset tag?

Our tags last for 8 years based on 1 ping per day. If you increase the ping frequency, the battery life decreases proportionally.
