GPS-Buddy's mileage registration is certified with the Keurmerk RitRegistratieSystemen. For a system with this certification, the Tax Authority assumes the registration is complete. The odometer reading comes directly from the vehicle via the odometer connection: not entered, but read out. The record can be submitted directly as an XAR file in the event of an audit, the format the Tax Authority uses for company car tax checks.

Private trips stay private
A private trip is private, in the records too. For a private trip, only the total distance is visible in Flowter, even to administrators. Route, addresses, and times are not shown: only the driver can see these, in their own app.

What is automated trip registration?
Automated trip registration records every trip without manual tracking: departure, arrival, distance, and odometer reading. The driver only needs to indicate in the Flowter app whether a trip is business or private.
Can mileage registration help avoid company car tax?
In the Netherlands, trip registration provides the complete proof of business and private kilometers required by the Dutch Tax Authority (Belastingdienst). Anyone who can demonstrably stay under 500 private kilometers per year pays no company car tax there.
Can the employer see private trips?
The employer only sees the total distance of a private trip; this is needed for complete mileage records. Route, addresses, and times are not visible, not even to administrators. Only the driver can see their own private trips in full, in the app.
What's the difference with trip registration in Excel?
A spreadsheet doesn't fill itself in: every trip has to be entered, and every mistake stays in. GPS-Buddy's trip registration records trips automatically, with the odometer reading taken directly from the vehicle.
What is an XAR file?
The format the Tax Authority uses for company car tax checks. For vehicles with an odometer connection, Flowter generates this file.

How is the mileage registration installed?
