The heart of your Asset Intelligence

The XT-4 serves a dual purpose. Installed in a vehicle or machine, it reads vehicle data directly from the CAN bus. At the same time, every XT-4 acts as a gateway for the RFID Asset Tags: equipment without a power source of its own becomes visible too.

What the XT-4 does

  • RFID gateway: reads RFID Asset Tags within range
  • Real-time location: the built-in GPS continuously transmits its position
  • CAN bus integration: operating hours, fuel consumption and more, straight from vehicle and machine
  • Remote tacho: read and download tachograph data remotely
  • Modular design: switch features on or off remotely
  • Automatic updates: firmware and software via FOTA
  • Hybrid IoT ecosystem: all data visible in Flowter
  • Less admin: automate processes based on what happens in the field

CANbus data from vehicle and machine

Once installed, the XT-4 reads data directly from the CAN bus of the vehicle or machine: operating hours, fuel consumption, mileage and more. The built-in GPS adds the current location, continuously updated. Together, this data forms the basis in Flowter for Driver Intelligence, emissions reporting and automated trip registration. So you see not only where a vehicle is, but also the performance and driving behaviour behind it.

Advanced gateway technology

Alongside vehicle data, the XT-4 also acts as a gateway for GPS-Buddy RFID Asset Tags. As soon as tagged equipment comes within range, the XT-4 picks up the signal and forwards the location and consumption data to Flowter. On top of that, your tagged equipment is also detected by any of the tens of thousands of other GPS-Buddy gateways on the road across the Netherlands every day. This way, every gateway contributes to wider coverage, for all users.

Tachograph data, remotely

No trip back to the depot. No card reader at the office. No driver who has to hand in their driver card. With the Digitacho module, you read tachograph data from drivers and vehicles remotely, available straight away in Flowter.

Managed remotely

The XT-4 has a modular design: you switch features on or off per asset, so the configuration grows with whatever your operation needs at that moment. Software and firmware updates are delivered via FOTA (Firmware Over-The-Air), which sends updates wirelessly to the device, without anyone having to visit the vehicle or machine.

Installed or stationary

The XT-4 isn't tied to a moving vehicle. As standard, you install it in vehicles and machines, with an input voltage of 0 to 100 volts that suits everything from vans to heavy equipment. With a 240V connection, it works just as well at a fixed location: a warehouse, workshop, depot or site cabin. There, it detects all RFID tags within range, so you can see at a glance what's on site, what leaves in the morning and what fails to return in the evening. For trailers there's a dedicated version: the XT-4 Trailerpack, with a heavier-duty battery and a waterproof IP67 housing.

XT-4 Trailerpack

The XT-4 Trailer is the most rugged version of our XT-4 unit, built for trailers, semi-trailers and equipment kept outdoors. Its waterproof IP67 housing stands up to rain, dust and mud. With a 5,000 mAh battery, or an optional 10,000 mAh battery, it keeps working even during a temporary power cut.

From planning to delivery: one platform that connects everything

At haulage company Peter van Setten, the team sees in real time where every truck and trailer is, from planning to delivery. On the road, the CAN bus gives insight into fuel consumption and driving behaviour, tachograph data is downloaded remotely and drivers keep the office up to date through the driver app. Because everything comes together in one platform, there are far fewer phone calls and more time for what comes first: the safety of the drivers, other road users and the cargo.

The first hybrid IoT ecosystem

From the XT-4, both the vehicle's CAN bus data and the signals from the RFID Asset Tags flow into Flowter. There, together with the rest of your fleet and equipment, they form a single overview: what's moving, what's standing still and what's happening on the road. This is where data becomes insight, and insight becomes decisions. Helping you drive efficiency, compliance, sustainability and safety.

Frequently asked questions and answers. Is your question not listed? Then contact us.

Does the XT-4 also work when the vehicle isn't moving?

Yes. With a 240V plug, the XT-4 also works at a fixed location: a warehouse, workshop, depot or site cabin. There, it detects all RFID tags in the area, just as it does in a vehicle.

What's the difference between the XT-4 and the XT-4 Trailerpack?

The Trailerpack is the version for trailers: a heavier-duty battery and a waterproof IP67 housing instead of the standard IP54.

Is the XT-4 suitable for heavy equipment?

Yes. Its input voltage of 0 to 100 volts makes the XT-4 suitable for everything from vans to heavy equipment.

Does the XT-4 read only vehicle data, or RFID tags too?

Both, at the same time. The CAN bus supplies vehicle data, and the built-in gateway reads RFID Asset Tags within range.
